The opening night of the seventh Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival kicked of on October 11, 2020 at Museum of Vietnam History located in the Botanical Garden (District 1). On this occasion, many colorful Ao Dai collections of famous designers were released to the public, bringing many sublime emotions between the space of historical and cultural harmony.
Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival is a cultural - tourism event of the city every year that honors the beauty of the Vietnamese traditional Ao Dai through attractive cultural and spiritual activities. Through its six organizations continuously with increasingly expanding scale and more diversified content, Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival has become one of the prestigious brands of tourism in Ho Chi Minh City and internationally. The Festival is also an annual tourism event that is highly appreciated and expected by domestic and foreign tourists.
Theatrical space for the opening night of the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival 2020. This is the first time the opening night of the festival is held at the Museum of Vietnam History.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that: "In the context of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular are recovering economic - cultural - social activities after a prolonged period of being affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival with the theme "I love Vietnamese Ao Dai" is not only honor the beauty of the ao dai; to contribute to preserving and building a modern Vietnamese culture, but also an activity to respond to the Ho Chi Minh City's theme for 2020 - “Year of promoting cultural activities and building a civilized urban lifestyle.” Thereby, the image of Ho Chi Minh City - a destination "Vibrant - Safe - Attractive - Friendly" continues to be promoted to domestic and international tourists."

Furthermore, this year's Ao Dai Festival also drew the participation of 14 famous designers, bringing many collections and designs of Ao Dai that are diverse, elegant, bold Vietnamese characteristic and cultural beauty. The Ao Dais are made by the elegant eyes and skillful hands of Vietnamese artisans. The unique Ao Dai costumes were performed by professional models, contributing to the colorful space and impressive experience for the opening night.

After the opening night, a series of inspirational activities about Ao Dai in high interaction with the community will continuously take place at famous tourist destinations such as the War Remnants Museum, City Post Office, high schools, industrial parks in the city until the end of November. With a new form of organizing: online combined with live events, the most attractive point is the " I love Vietnamese Ao Dai” campaigns/contests which are made from Ao Dai lovers not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also spreading the love for Ao Dai everywhere.
