CAI LUONG

A traditional form of folk music, cai luong is similar to Western operettas with the flash and glitz of a Broadway production. Performers are adorned in ornate costumes to sing and dance their way through comedic and dramatic storylines with verve. The unique sound combines guitars and dan kim, a local stringed instrument, to enthrall the audience.

Location: Tran Huu Trang Theatre, 515 - 517 Tran Hung Dao, D1

Local insight: Cai Luong requires intense training and has evolved to include less traditional songs.
